1967 Spirograph Refill Kit No. 402

UPDATE January 2026: A reader from the UK, Edward Holmes, has been digitally scanning and cleaning up the Spirograph Refill Kits that Kenner sold back in the 1960s. His images are higher resolution than the ones I originally posted here. They print out nicely, which will help if you want to try drawing the patterns shown.

As well as the colour photos of the envelope, there was a 2-page sheet of instructions without images, “mystery patterns” that spirographers could try out. I’ve created a video exploring 4 of these 54 mystery patterns. If you’re not sure how to follow the instructions, you might like to watch it first.

The Refill Kit

To make the best print, click on the images one at a time to get the highest-resolution version, and then send that to your printer. (The full images are high resolution and may take a little time to download if you have a slow connection.)

Thanks for mentioning refill kits! There were two for the vintage Spirograph, one for Super Spirograph, a later one for those with the swing marker, and a smaller square refill kit for Spirotot. I saw them at eBay and Etsy in case anyone is interested.

Does anyone happen to know if the refill kit book for the Super Sprigraph is the same as the regular one? I would assume it isn’t with the new gears and tracks, but I can’t find any pictures online of it anywhere.
