Spirograph Valentines
UPDATE: See my video about using the oval wheel at this post.
The oval Spirograph gear produces a sort-of heart shape when you use the holes near the pointy end.
It produces 8 points or petals with the 144/96 ring, and 7 with the 150/105 ring.
Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I thought I’d play with it a bit. I used the 144/96 ring and combined the oval with wheels 84 and 60, which also give 8 points.
If you have a kid in grade school, you could quickly produce enough valentines for the whole class! Try some fancy paper or cardstock and add sparkles or other embellishments.
I just bought a vintage Spirograph set on eBay. I’m enjoying your site (but I always called this wheel “The Football”. 😀
I have too, sometimes, or the eye-shaped wheel. I’ve wondered what to call it on the website. The makers of Spirograph call it an oval, so I’ve followed suit. The other reason is that outside North America, “football” means soccer, and the ball is round! Anyway, congratulations on getting a vintage set. I hope you have lots of fun with it.
