Wild Gears Gallery: Full Page Designs
These designs all use Wild Gears’ 210-tooth ring, and are 8″ in diameter. Some details are in the captions. Many of them explore the possibilities of the 120 triangle gear.

I took the second last image above, made a series of rotated versions in Photoshop, then layered them into an animated GIF which I use as my YouTube logo. You may not see it rotate there, so here it is:

I think Wild Gears are amazing! But I live in Italy and, unfortunately, Aaron doesn’t ship to Europe 🙁
Have you asked him about it? He might need to set up another “store” with a Ponoko partner who produces the product in Europe, which is apparently possible, or maybe just duplicate products, according to:

Thank you for the advice! Last month I emailed to him twice, but he didn’t answer to me. Yesterday I emailed to him again and I’m waiting for an answer.
Aaron emailed to me!
Hi Raffaella,
I will definitely ship to Italy. I will most likely be able to make the gear sets in Germany or Italy so the shipping shouldn’t be too much (although the base price may be a little higher, I’ll have to see).
I will need a little bit of time to find out some details about pricing and logistics but I will get back to you when I have all the information. Hopefully in a day or two.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Aaron
He made my day! 🙂
Awesome!!
I just ordered the Full Page Gear Set! Thank you very much for the advice! 🙂
Great! I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
Thanks! And I’m looking forward to play with them!
Aaron emailed me:
Hello Raffaella,
Your Gear Set has been made and is being shipped!
I’m so happy!!! 🙂
I have ordered myself a set and just heard from Aaron that they are being made and will be with me soon. I let him know that it was your blog where I heard about them 🙂
Today Wild Gears (the Full Page Gear Set) arrived! I’m so excited!
They look amazing and I need a lot of practice.
As soon as possible I’ll write about my experiences.
Thank you Heather and Aaron 🙂
I look forward to it!
Hi!! It is possible to Ship to Argentina? I really want to get a Gear Set..
I’ll pass on your question to Aaron by email and copy you.
Does the 210 tooth ring fit on A4 paper if I use the outermost hole on any wheel?
I happen to have a piece of A4 paper (not usual in Canada, but I have in-laws in Europe). It would just barely work. The teeth themselves would be over the edge, but the penhole of a gear should just barely stay on the paper.
Looks like the second last design on the article is your youtube logo 🙂
You’re right. I made an animated GIF out of it, but it doesn’t usually rotate on YouTube. I just edited this page to include the large version of it so you can see it. It’s almost 2 MB, which is rather big for a website image. Hopefully by the time you’ve read this, it will have downloaded for you.
Hi Heather, it would be great if you could share which rings, gears, and holes you use for each model. That would encourage the use of these magnificent sets. Not everyone has the patience or time to do the testing, and they end up in a desk drawer. Thanks for sharing.
Certainly it would help. This post was made 11 years ago, and was one of my first about Wild Gears. I see that wrote that details were in the captions. And there are no captions – I looked in the backend. So if there were any, they’re gone. Perhaps I was using a gallery plugin that no longer exists. Sorry about that!
The captions are visible in an archive of this page: https://web.archive.org/web/20150104172151/https://spirographicart.com/2014/07/27/wild-gears-gallery-full-page-designs/
I think you can probably match them up to the images by hovering over the broken links in the archived page to see the names of the images and match them to the ones in the current version of the post above.
Brilliant. Hadn’t thought to look there. So indeed, the captions were stored differently than usual. WordPress evolves over time and its plugins even faster. I may have been using a gallery plugin that got deprecated along the way.
