A reader, Paul, asked a question on another post:

I found my son’s Spirograph glitter set that we purchased as a Christmas gift in the the early 90s (I think). His daughter is trying to learn how to use it. Does anyone know what size pen tip works for this set? Also, I believe there was a glitter glue pen with this set. Does anyone know where a replacement can be purchased? Thanks!

Here’s a video of Kenner’s 1992 “Sparkle Spirograph”. It looks like regular Spirograph pieces with a glue pen and glitter sprinkled on. More below about glue pens below.

Did anyone have this set? I suppose any glue pen that came with it would have dried out by now.

A quick search on Amazon for “glitter glue pens” shows a dizzying array of possibilities.

Some of these pens would work with the new Spirograph by Kahootz, but may or may not fit in the old versions, which had smaller holes that were further away from the paper. I’d like to try it though.

Glitter can be found in craft shops.

In any case, if you had one of these sets, you could use it with regular pens – especially the fine-tip felt pens – on ordinary paper.

Nowadays, we also have sparkly gel pens available, but I find that they tend to smear because the gel takes longer to dry than does felt-tip or ballpoint ink.

If you have any experience with this set, with or without a glue pen, or using glue pens and glitter with other Spirograph sets, please share your experience in the comments below! Thanks.
