Sounds like you're having a lot of fun with it - and your cats. Or despite your cats. Nice to hear!

I never had a Spirograph as a kid. I never asked for one is the reason why. I just bought a small set to play around with last week, and I am shocked at how easy it was to use. I thought I'd be making all kinds of mistakes with it! That's not to say I haven't made mistakes. I have accidently shifted gears, took the pen out of the hole and lost track of which hole I was using, and made the mistake of doodling Spirographs when one of my cats decided to get up on the table when he knows he's not allowed on the table, and rubbing up against the pen (one of the other cats would try to grab the pen). Though I haven't used the paper that came with my set. I refuse to use it until I feel comfortable with it, so I've been using printer paper. That, and I'm using printer paper as "guides" to see what patterns the holes make on their own, and use the paper from the set for my own combinations, as opposed to the ones they give you in the instructions.

I made a series of videos about using the two bars or racks. Here's a link to the playlist:

I too played with a spirograph as a kid, but it was lost in the ensuing years. Just recently I bought one of the new sets, and have fallen completely in love with it! There's something very soothing about it I find.

I'm working on branching out into making art with it myself, though I'm just a beginner. I post my spirograms on tumblr:

I hope you find them interesting.

I'm from the UK and have owned a Spirograph since 1973. I've always wanted a Super Spirograph set as it was included in the instructions of the set I had (clever Denys Fisher) and I've just managed to get hold of one. It has a few pieces missing.
I've tried ebay with some success - does anyone else know of another route I can try to get hold of the missing pieces I need?
Thanks in advance
